HOW IT ALL BEGAN

In the late 1960’s, land in Seminole County, Oklahoma was acquired by Rebekah’s grandfather and named the Buckeye Ranch after the Buckeye Creek which traverses the property. For over 50 years the family has maintained a cow-calf operation at this location.

With a view towards regenerative land management practices, third generation farm managers, Garrett & Rebekah Napier have diversified the production of the farm by adding pastured poultry and hair sheep to the mix.  Long term goals for the farm include employing different species of large and small ruminants alongside the chickens to create a regenerative cycle that reclaims unusable land and promotes a healthy balance of land use for future generations.

OUR PRACTICES

Rotational multi-species grazing improves soil and sward but also produces an exceptionally delicious and nutritious protein. The animals raised at Buckeye Ranch take on the natural flavors imparted by our local, central Oklahoma environment. We take great care in supplementing the nutritional requirements of our animals by providing high-quality rations, according to the seasons and the needs of each species.

Buckeye Ranch animals are reared outside on pasture in natural environments that promote and support the expression of their created tendencies. As stewards of both land and animals, we purpose to protect and promote health in ways that are responsible and in keeping with our long-term goals of sustainability. Natural and holistic remedies are preferred, however should one of our animals require medical treatment, we seek to restore the animal to health under the direction of our local veterinarian.
